I think the happiest people I meet are business owners and entrepreneurs. There’s something amazing about starting with an idea and growing it into a company, and I am so proud to be part of that process for our clients. Every day when I come to work I look forward to advising inspiring and energetic individuals through every legal aspect of starting, growing, and selling their business, as well as mitigating the little bumps in the road that may appear along the way.
My extensive business and corporate law experience allows me to competently act as general counsel to businesses ranging from new start up to large multinational corporations. In addition to advising our clients, I regularly draft business related documents and agreements relating to every aspect of business formation, governance, expansion, merger, employment, commerce, privacy, and change in control.
In counseling our clients I also use my litigation experience to make well thought out choices before problems occur, or to deal with issues when they develop. I have tried several jury and bench trials, as well as arbitrations to verdict. I have also successfully handled litigation matters in the areas of copyright infringement, fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, professional negligence, employment violations, defamation, and many other business related areas. I have taken and defended hundreds of depositions of both percipient witnesses and experts, and have drafted countless motions in both California state and federal courts.
I grew up in southern California, obtained my undergraduate degree from UCLA in 1997; my JD and special certificate in International Law from Pace University in 2002; my MBA in Business Administration and International Business from Loyola Marymount University in December 2003; and was admitted to the California State Bar in 2004.
I first moved to Manhattan Beach in 1998, and though I travelled away for several extended periods to New York, Great Britain, Austria, France, and Australia, I always came back. In 2004, this community quickly became my permanent home, and I can honestly say that I believe it is the best place to live and work that I have ever visited. You can probably find me surfing before work on most mornings, hanging out at the beach with my son Cayden and my wife Kristen in the evening and weekend, or finishing the day over a drink in the best office in the South Bay—ours!
As part of my community involvement I am a proud member of the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club. Through Manhattan Beach Rotary, I have truly been able to become involved in many more facets of the community, and to have a much greater impact than I could ever have on my own. Manhattan Beach Rotary truly lives up to the phrase “Service Above Self”.
